DR. ANDREA MALIZIA, PhD
Andrea Malizia is a Researcher in Experimental and Applied Physics at the Department of Biomedicine and Prevention, University of Rome Tor Vergata. He achieved his Bc.S. in 2003 and the Ms.S. in 2005 (cum laude) in Environmental Engineering both at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. Dr. Malizia defended his Ph.D. in Quantum Electronics and Plasma Physics in 2010 (Rank 4/4); he later achieved in 2010 the postgraduate title in Protection against CBRNe events (cum laude) at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. He has completed his second Ph.D in Industrial Engineering in 2017 with an evaluation of excellent cum laude.
His research interests center on improving the understanding, design, and performance experimental set-up to measure the mobilization of radioactive dust in case of accident in the nuclear plants. In addition, Dr. Malizia has contributed to the development of LIDAR/DIAL systems for environmental control and military application. He cooperates with international entities (public, military, academics and private) involved in CBRNe (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and explosive) safety and security.
He works on the development of methods and tecnhiques to improve instruments for the nuclear measurements.
He serves as Assistant Professor, since A.Y, 2013/2014, in the bachelor degree courses of Applied and Medical Physics at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, University of Rome Tor Vergata. He has scientific collaborations with: JET (Joint European Torus) Research Centre in UK; IRSN (France); University of Bristol (UK); University of Madrid (Spain); Joint Research Centre, European Commission (Ispra, Varese). He has been also visiting researcher in some of these centres. He is the Didactical Coordinator of the International Master Courses in Protection against CBRNe events since 2008, cooperating with the most important national and international entities involved in the CBRNe events. He also serves as Tutor Assistant in the courses of Physics, Laser systems, Nuclear Fusion Energy and Measurements. Dr. Andrea Malizia is author of more than 95 scientific works on international and national Scientific Journal and Conference Proceedings; of 1 National Patent; of 1 book and he serves as lectures in the Postgraduate courses of: Chirurgia Plastica (Prof. Cervelli, University of Rome Tor Vergata) for the laser systems security in lab.; for the course of Fusion Energy - Engineering and Science (Prof. Romanelli, University of Rome Tor Vergata) . He received two National Awards for his research activities: “Premio Città e Sicurezza” (2007) and “Premio Sapio” (2011). The HAGUE-OPCW AWARD (2017) for the International Master courses in Protection against CBRNe events, he is in charge of the didactic coordination sin 2009/2010.

Dr. DANIELE DI GIOVANNI, PhD
He got a Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering at the University of Rome "Tor Vergata" in 2006, then he worked for several private companies and engineering firms operating in design and management of complex plants. In 2013, he collaborated with Eni (ex. National Hydrocarbons entity) and CRATI ("Consortium for Research and Technological Applications and Innovative") as part of a project on the use of algal biomass for the production of bio-fuels of second generation. In 2013, he attended the 2nd Level International Master Course in "Protection against CBRNE events".
In January 2014, he won the scholarship for the “Industrial Engineering” Ph.D. at the University of Rome "Tor Vergata" that has been completed in 2017 with an eveluation of excellent cum laude, since it he started to collaborate to the development of projects dealing with CBRNe safety and security.
In particular, he participates to the study of the technical gap analysis and assessment, aimed at process improvement exercise sessions of persons called to act in the context of Crisis Management system. He also follows the development of industrial research projects directed to the integration of detection systems, risk analysis and geo-referencing in innovative devices designed to facilitate the work of first responders on the field.
In January 2015, he becomes Tutor of Physics at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Rome Tor Vergata. Continues its consulting activities for public and private institutions about CBRN risk.
He is Responsible for the communication with attendees International Master Course in "Protection against CBRNE events".

DR. MARIACHIARA CARESTIA, PhD
Born in 1984, I hold a Master Degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology, and achieved the Master of Philosophy in “Protection against CBRN events” from the University of Rome Tor Vergata.
Currently, I am serving as research fellow at the University of Rome Tor Vergata where my research activities are focused on:
- the EU founded project “CBRN Integrated Response Italy” where I am one of the contributors. The project, conducted in collaboration with Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna di Pisa and Corpo Nazionale dei Vigili del Fuoco, is aimed at building and testing an integrated CBRN response capability of first responders and law enforcement agencies in Italy.
- the “BIO-F” project. A multidisciplinary project for the development of a device for the detection of atmospheric releases of biological warfare agents, exploiting the induced fluorescence features of biological agents.
Other information concerning my activities on CBRNe:
- In 2013 I attended the “Introduction to the International CBRN Training Curriculum Course” held by the Joint CBRN Defence COE, while in 2014 I participated, as lecturer, at the “Bio Warfare Defence Awareness Course” held by the NATO School of Oberammergau.
- I’m lecturer, and part of the Didactic Management Unit, of the international master courses in “Protection against CBRNe events”.

DR. JEAN FRANCOIS CIPARISSE, PhD
Jean-François Ciparisse (born on 09/05/1977), has a Master Degree in Aerospace Engineering, a Master Degree in Astronautical Engineering, a Post-Graduate course that releases 60 ECDS in Heat Transfer and Fluid Dynamics and a Ph.D. in Environment and Energy Engineering. After having worked for several years as a process engineer in an EPC company which designs power plants, he is now a Ph.D. student in Industrial Engineering in the University of Rome Tor Vergata. He is specialized in combustion, fluid dynamics and heat transfer.

DR. ORLANDO CENCIARELLI, PhD
Dr. Orlando Cenciarelli is a biologist. His fields of interest are microbiology and bio- safety and security. He has a Bachelor Degree in Biology, a Master Degree in Cell and Molecular Biology, a Master of Philosophy in Protection from CBRNe events and a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering. He is a Research Fellow at the University of Rome Tor Vergata (Italy). He was Academic Guest at the ETH, Zurich (Switzerland). He is a member of the Directive Board of the International Master Courses in Protection against CBRNe and a lecturer at the NATO School – Oberammergau, Germany, during the NATO Biological Warfare Defense Awareness Course. Author of more than 40 publications of international and national relevance.

Riccardo Rossi (19/05/1992) got a Bachelor’s degree (October 2014) and a Master’s degree (October 2016) in Energy and Nuclear Engineering. He worked with optical velocity measurements (e.g. PIV) and developed a software to study dust re-suspension and mobilization. He is a new PhD student in Industrial Engineering of the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”, where he will be continue the study on dust mobilization in industrial plants.

Born in 1986, Valentina Gabbarini is a biologist with skills in cell and molecular biology and biochemistry.
She obtained a Master Degree in Human and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, defending a thesis in Clinical Molecular Biology and Clinical Biochemistry about the modulation of the cisplatin cytotoxic activity by the Glutathione Transferase P1-1 in human neuroblastoma cell line. This work was part of an international collaboration, involving among others, the Bio21 Molecular Science and Biotechnology Institute of the University of Melbourne (Australia). Then, she obtained the 2nd Level Master Course in Protection against CBRNe events at the University of Rome Tor Vergata.
She attended the NATO Biological Warfare Defence Awareness Course at the NATO School in Oberammergau (Germany).
To date, she is a member of the Didactic Management Unit of the International Master Courses in Protection against CBRNe events, and is involved in administration and in relations with candidates and lecturers. She is co-author of several publications on CBRNe issues, including biowarfare agents.

Jessica Gabriele was born in Frosinone (FR) on the 3th of February 1988.
She took Master's Degree in Protection against CBRNe events at University of Rome Tor Vergata on November 25th, 2016.
She graduated in October of 2014 in Environmental Engineering with a thesis about “Modelling of indoor particle concentrations”.
She passed the Senior State Exam in Environmental Engineering in March 2015.
She worked at Industrial Engineering Department, University of Rome Tor Vergata in Lidar/Dial Applications research area.
She is a PhD student in the Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, where she develops, in collaboration with T.L.ITALIA (a company specializing in the production of technical and military clothing), the study of a protective CBRN protective garment for firefighters.
She is co-author of papers published on Defence S&T Technical Bullettin: “Application of Optical Techniques to Detect Chemical and Biological Agents”.
Master Degree in International Relations at the University of Naples l'Orientale in 2008 and later attended the Master's Degree in International and Local Development, at the business school STOA', where she acquired the expertise on the management of co-financed projects international and national. After that she collaborated with the Special Agency of the Chamber of Commerce of Florence "Promofirenze" dealing with international cooperation projects between Italian companies and the Mediterranean countries. In November of 2010 she started working with a company specializing in business internationalization.
From 2013 she is responsible of the Secretariat International Master Courses in Protection against CBRNe events.

Riccardo Quaranta holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Rome Tor Vergata. He attended successfully the first edition of the 2nd Level International Master Course in "Protection against CBRNE events" in 2010. At the same time, he cooperated with the Quantum Electronics and Plasma Physics Research Group of the Industrial Engineering Department of the University of Rome Tor Vergata. During this period, he took part in research activities in the field of numerical simulations applied to the safety of experimental nuclear fusion facilities and CBRNe safety. He co-authored several scientific papers published on Italian and international journals and presented the work of the group at international conferences, on behalf of the University of Rome Tor Vergata.
He has extensive international experience as he studied for a semester in Finland and lived and worked in Australia and Thailand, where he was full time Physics and Mathematics teacher for the students of an English Program High School near Bangkok.
After his 4-year experience in Thailand, Riccardo has recently moved back to Italy and joined again the QEP Research Group as tutor and supporting secretary of the International Master Course in "Protection against CBRNE events" and he is member of the SICC 2017 LOC.

MD in Law (LUMSA University, Rome) with a specialization on the Chemical Weapon Convention and OPCW activities. Completing the MSc in Protection against CBRNe events (University of Rome Tor Vergata). She has developed a new method of game theory application to optimize the non-conventional events management (like the CWA transloading from Syria). She has served in the didactic management units of graduate and postgraduate academic courses on safety & security, and in the organization of many international events both for private and public entities. She fluently speaks Italian and English. She has completed a Master in Human Resource Management in Philadelphia (USA).
